Eye in the Storm

I've been so bloody busy lah! one entire week of exams and now finally, i am free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a NUS grad! I am a NUS grad!

just imagine, back in the good old primary/secondary school days, teachers talked abt uni like as though it was the ultimate thing in life to have, that it's even better than sex.
eg: 'sex hor, you dun have, is ok one... after all, s'poreans are all too busy to have sex mah, so no need to worry that you'll lose out. but a degree, degree very very important. if you dun start studying hard, stop talking in class, and stop leaving your textbooks in school just coz they're too heavy to bring home... you will never make it to jc, and then never make it to uni. and if you dun go uni, you will not be able to earn money, then you cannot buy food, no home, no family, will die one!'

so ok, my teachers dun use those exact words, but the tune was about the same.

so what did we naive students do? work damn hard to get into uni lah! we looked up at this huge mountain of obstacles and saw our degree sitting right at the summit, resting on piles of gold coins, radiating with promises of a good life!

so we chiong lor.

and now that i've studied like hell (technically i was quite a slack student who missed lectures/tutorials etc, but i did get some studying done), and i'm finally getting my piece of gold paper, what am i told/asked?
'nowadays ah, degree not enough leh! ppl want honours, masters, but not degrees'
or
'nowadays ah, degree not so important lah! ppl more interested in whether you got experience or not, you know'
or
'so now you going where to further studies?'

like, hello ah! i just did 3 yrs in uni and now you want me to study somemore!?!?!?!

i wonder what teachers are telling their students nowadays. could it be:
eg: 'sex hor, you dun have, is ok one... after all, s'poreans dun have sex anymore mah, so no need to worry that you'll lose out coz no one is having babies anyway. but a phd, phd very very important. if you dun start studying hard, stop talking in class, and stop leaving your textbooks in school just coz they're too heavy to bring home... you will never make it to jc, and then never make it to uni. and if you dun go uni, you will not be able to earn money, then you cannot buy food, no home, no family, will die one!'

sigh

will we ever stop?

i just feel so cheated lor.. like, i was told a degree was the ultimate... and after all the sweat climbing up to get thise piece of paper, i'm told, "err, not enough sweat leh!"

bloody hell
