"The U.S. Embassy encourages American citizens in Singapore to heighten their security awareness due to the potential volatility surrounding the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group meetings, as has occurred elsewhere around the world. The U.S. Embassy is unable to predict whether similar incidents will occur in Singapore or surrounding areas. The U.S. Embassy urges American citizens to avoid any demonstrations or large gatherings during this period, including in popular downtown areas such as Clarke Quay, the Esplanade, Suntec City, and Orchard Road. American citizens should exercise caution if within the vicinity of any demonstrations."
